These House Rules are established in accordance with Articles 10 and 25 of the Accommodation Terms and Conditions to ensure the safety and well-being of our facility, surrounding residents, and all guests, and to provide a comfortable stay and cultural experience. Violation of these rules may result in refusal of continued accommodation or use of services under Article 25 of the Accommodation Terms and Conditions.

In these rules, the person who applied for the “Service” and those listed on the application form are referred to as “Guest(s)” or “User(s),” and “Hanyu-no-obasanchi” is referred to as “the Facility.”

1. Smoking

a. Smoking is prohibited inside the Facility, in the garden, and on surrounding roads (including electronic cigarettes). If you wish to smoke, please inform us. We will guide you to the designated smoking area.
b. If smoking or the presence of cigarette butts is confirmed by sight or smell, a deodorizing/cleaning fee of USD 200 (converted to JPY at the daily rate) will be charged. If repairs to tatami, fittings, shoji, or equipment are required, actual costs plus compensation for business interruption may be charged.
c. Before checkout, the guest and staff will check the room together to prevent forgotten items.

2. Prohibited Items

a. Animals, birds, and pets Note: Due to hygiene management, acceptance of service dogs may not be possible. Please consult us in advance.
b. Excessive quantities of goods
c. Items that emit strong odors or noise
d. Explosives, flammable or volatile substances
e. Firearms or swords prohibited by law
f. Marijuana, narcotics, stimulants, or illegal synthetic drugs Items e and f will be reported to the police immediately in accordance with the law.

3. Consideration for Neighbors

The Facility is located in a quiet residential area with many elderly residents. The following behaviors may result in refusal of continued use. Police intervention may be requested depending on the situation.

a. Any complaint from neighbors, regardless of reason
b. Entering neighboring residential property
c. Loud voices or noise
d. Being unable to walk safely due to intoxication, or going outside in such a condition
e. After 9:00 PM, please refrain from loud voices or noise in the garden. Quiet relaxation is acceptable.
f. Late-night entry or exit should be avoided out of consideration for neighbors.

4. Food and Beverage

a. As delivery personnel entering the residential area may disturb neighbors, food delivery services are generally not allowed. Please consult us if necessary.
b. Purchased food should be consumed in the living room. Eating in the guest room (tatami room) is allowed at your own responsibility and with proper manners.
c. Excessive alcohol consumption or bringing in large quantities of alcohol that may disturb neighbors is prohibited.

5. Prohibited Conduct

a. Gambling, immoral behavior, and illegal activities are prohibited. Violations will be reported to the police.
b. Moving or modifying equipment or furnishings is prohibited. Damage, contamination, or loss will be charged at actual cost (except in cases of force majeure). Accidental damage due to intoxication or carelessness will also be charged.
c. Removing books or equipment from their designated locations is prohibited. Loss will be charged at actual cost; intentional removal will be reported to the police.
d. Photography, videography, and online posting are limited to personal use. Personal SNS posting is allowed. Commercial photography or posting requires prior permission.
e. Entry of non-registered visitors is prohibited (unless approved by the Facility in advance).
f. Use of the Facility while intoxicated is prohibited.

6. Guest Room Use

a. Use of the guest room for purposes other than accommodation is prohibited.
b. Under Article 8 of the Accommodation Terms and Conditions, accommodation by non-registered persons is prohibited.
c. Use of personal heating or cooking devices that generate heat is prohibited.

7. Toilet and Bathroom

a. After using the bidet function, please press the stop button. If the water does not stop, contact us immediately.
b. The toilet floor is one step lower. Please be careful not to fall.
c. Bathroom shelves cannot support weight. Do not lean or sit on them.
d. Bathroom use is until 11:00 PM.
e. If you wish to use the washing machine or dryer, please inform us. Use is allowed until 11:00 PM.

8. Kitchen and Living Room

a. The kitchen may only be used for Japanese cooking lessons and for meal preparation/cleanup. Please consult us if you have special circumstances. Closing time is 10:30 PM.
b. The living room may also be used until 10:30 PM.

9. Other Facilities

Entry into rooms marked “STAFF ONLY” or “Private”, and opening any storage doors in the hallway or living room, is not permitted.

10. Security and Safety

a. As the Facility is a private residence, the guest room (tatami room) does not have a lock.
b. When leaving the room for lessons or other activities, please store valuables in the safe and lock it.
c. Turn off and unplug personal electrical devices when leaving the room.
d. The entire Facility is non-smoking. Any fire-hazardous behavior is prohibited.
e. Before checkout, the guest and staff will check the room together to prevent forgotten items.
f. Lost items will be handled in accordance with the Lost Property Act after a certain storage period. Shipping costs are borne by the guest. Liability follows Article 30 of the Accommodation Terms and Conditions.

11. Liability

a. The Facility is not responsible for injuries or accidents caused by guest negligence. Please take care, especially regarding bathroom slips, shelf weight limits, and toilet steps.
b. The Facility is not responsible for injuries or burns caused by negligence during Japanese cooking lessons. First aid will be provided, but no refunds will be issued for discontinued lessons.
c. The Facility is not responsible for loss or theft inside the Facility. Please manage your valuables.
d. No refunds will be issued if you are unable to participate in lessons due to illness, injury, or accident.

12. Payment, Advances, and Tips

a. Optional services, beverages, and merchandise should be settled at the time of use or before checkout. Cash, credit cards, and QR payments are accepted. Even if prices are listed in USD, charges will be made in JPY.
b. We do not make purchases or pay for transportation, tickets, or shipping on behalf of guests.
c. Tips are not required.

13. Exclusion of Organized Crime Groups

In accordance with Articles 10 and 25 of the Accommodation Terms and Conditions, the Facility refuses use by members of organized crime groups or individuals who cause significant disturbance to the Facility or neighbors. If such facts are discovered after reservation or during use, the Facility will refuse continued use.
